Catrice Floralista: Lavender Breeze

The only color I got from the limited edition Catrice Floralista collection that is out now, is the C03 Lavender Breeze color. I must say, I expected more: I wouldn’t even call this a breeze, more like a distant memory of a breeze… The color is so pale it’s more white than anything else, and it’s even more pale on your nails than it is in the tube. If you don’t have a nice white in your collection, I’d say go for it. Otherwise, give it a pass… XO

Essence Whoom Boom (Haul + swatch)

The new Essence Whoom Boom limited collection edition is out and I picked up two things from the nail art section.

Firstly, the nail varnish. Out of the four nailpolishes I got just one: 01 Chacalaca. It;s a deep shimmer-free blue with a purple undertone.

Here is the swatch with a flash:

and in natural light:

The nail varnishes were around 1.75 euros each. There was also a hot pink, orange, and lime-green one but I already have similar shades so I passed on those.

The second thing I got was the nail art stickers that came with the collection.

They’re very cute and fun, and they’re scented! The smell is like eucalyptus mixed with liquorice… kind of like peppermint, which suits the style of the collection very well.

I’ve done a tutorial with the nail varnish and stickers, that will be up next so stay tuned 馃槈 XO

Mini collective haul January-March: Essence I Love Berlin, Catrice Urban Baroque

Hi guys!

February was declared a no-shopping month for me so I have a tinyhaul from a few thigs I picked up in the end of January and the beginning of March.

Firstly, from the Essence I Love Berlin LE collection I got three nailpolishes:

03 Green Grass, 05 Berlin Story, and the black matte tip painter.

Green Grass is an intense shimmer-free blue-green color. I’ve already done a tutorial with it–absolutely gorgeous color! And like all Catrice nailpolishes–very good quality.

05 Berlin Story is a plain black color, which is a great staple to have in your nailpolish collection. This one is quite opaque, so I’m really happy with it.

The tip painter is good as well; the brush is very thin and sturdy. I don’t care much that it’s a matte painter, as I’ll be using it with a top coat anyway.

Next, from the Catrice Urban Baroque LE collection, I was only able to get the C02 Rock Baroque color as all the others were sold out by the beginning of March 馃槮

It’s a gorgeous pastel pink color, though I was a bit dissappointed at the low pigmentation–the above coverage took five coats! Although this gives the nailcolor a translucent quality. Very pretty and feminine.

(I made an Urban Baroque-inspired tutorial with this color that’s coming up next so stay tuned ;))

Last but not least, I got 160 Sweets for my Sweets聽 from the permanent Catrice collection.

It’s a fun bright pink for an extra pop of color in the sunny Spring weather 馃槈 XO

Final US mini-haul

Ok, so I know I said no more hauls from the US, but then I found this Nail Supply store with crazy cheap OPI polishes and I got a few things. First off, my HOLY GRAIL product, which was like 4 times cheaper than it is here in Europe, Nail Envy by OPI!

I always use it as a base, and it has done wonders to my nails, really. So this should last me about a year 馃槈

I also got these two fabulous colors: And This Little Piggy and聽Queen of the West Web-erly

And This Little Piggy is a gorgeous very shimmery light pink. It’s so sheer, it can almost be used as a shimmery top-coat for pink or red designs. The picture below is 4 or 5 coats of it.

Queen of the West Web-erly, on the other hand, is quite opaque. It’s a gorgeous warm-toned pearly mauve-pinkish color and I absolutely love it. Below is two coats on my nails.

OPI polishes are very good quality, and at the nail supply they were only 5 US dollars each (normal price: 14 Euros) 聽so well worth it 馃槈 XOXO

US Haul!

So as you may know, I’m in the US right now. And yes, I went crazy. After watching all of the youtube videos and reviews about different brands not available in Europe, and then seeing them on the shelf of the local drugstore, I ended up spending a good portion of my Santa money (thanks, mama and papa!) on nailpolishes. Tee hee 馃檪

I’ll start with Sinful Colors. Sinful, indeed. At $2 a bottle and OPI-like reviews they are an oh so tempting bargain for a nail junkie like me… So far I’ve only tried the orange glitter one (tutorial coming up!) and I’m loving it 馃槈

From left to right: 814 Forget Now, 804 Gorgeous, 834 UFO, 80 Dream On, and 871 Hottie. 聽Absolutely lovely, all of them!

Next is the lime bullet combo: My two Sally Hansen Extreme Wear polishes.

22 Gun Metal and 02 Green With Envy.

I’ve tried the Gun Metal one:

So far I’m loving it: the brush is wide making the varnish easier to apply, it dries quickly and is rather opaque: the top picture shows two coats.

Next is the gorgeous ninty green color by Revlon called 320 Jaded:

I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. It applies smoothly to the nails and needs just two coats for full opacity. It also lasts quite long, though it doesn’t dry particularly quickly, as it is advertised on the bottle.

I’d heard many good things about ELF products on youtube, so when I saw them at the dollar store in NY, I had to try them out too. I got three colors:

1518 Pearl, 1548 Hot Pink, and 1502 White. I’ll be doing a review on these later.

Next in line is the single Milani nailpolish I got:

I love love LOVE my greens, and this is a holographic green! Looks very flashy and beautiful on the nails. It’s in the color 511 Hi-Tech.

Next is a company I had never hear of before: Confetti.

The two colors I got were a sparkly forest green (097 My Favorite Martian) and a golden-rusty color (055 Dressed to the 9’s), both of which would be fantastic for a rich Autumn design.

At the American Apparel store in NYC I came across the most hipster nail color imaginable, and naturally I had to have it.

The color is a marvelous baby diarrhea-green, and it’s called Mac Arthur Park. I already made a design with it (coming soon!) and it’s absolutely fabulous on the nails! On top of that, it’s extremely opaque (1 coat!) and dries quickly. So this will definitely be one of my favorites.

In NYC I also came across a beauty supply store (Eeeeek!) Though this may be common for those of you living in the US, for Europe it’s a rarity, so needless to say I was excited (yep, I am easily amused :p). Anyhow, at the beauty supply store I got 聽a whole range of nail art stripers! Yay!

Last but not least, drumroll….

My Holy Grail product, Nail Envy by OPI!!! It’s way cheaper here in the US than it is in Europe, so naturally I had to get some. I also got the top coat everyone and their mom is raving about on youtube, the dry fast by Seche Vite!

Whew! No more nailpolish shopping for me until Europe :p XOXO

Christmas gift mini-haul!

Hi y’all! Just wanted to share some of the nail goodies I got for X-mas 馃檪 My boyfriend knows I’m obsessed with nail art so he picked out these stockings stuffers for me. They’re all from a company called Flormar (never heard of them before), and it’s a very shimmery white (005), a tranlucent pearly pink (103), a shimmery raspberry-red (068) and聽 a bright orange nail art striper (NA03). Can’t wait to try them! Woo hoo! 馃榾

Update: Swatches!

The white is extremely shimmery and pretty–perfect for Winter desings 馃槈

The pink is more of a Granny/Barbie color. I don’t think I’ll be wearing it much…

Finally, the raspberry red is goooorgeous and is on my nails right now!!! 馃榾

Update & collective haul

My computer broke!~Nooooooo! So i’m doing this post from my old laptop till that gets fixed… And I’m stating that as the official reason for the short break I took from nail-art blogging ;p

This post will be about all of the nailpolishes I got in the past month or so, so take a deep breath–it’s a looooong one 馃槈

First and foremost: at the beginning of December, Catrice unvielded its re-vemped permanent collection and–aaah!–they added three new colors to their nail varnishes!! I absolutely love Catrice polishes, and to add to that, the new shades are absolutely gorgeous, so I was thrilled! First day I went to pick them up–all three were sold out. A few days later I was lucky enough to get the two colors I really wanted 馃榾

The blue one is a gorgeous dirty teal color called 350 Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! It has the tiniest blue shimmers in it which the camera doesn’t pick up; on the nails it’s a smooth shimmer-free finish.

And the green shade–wooooooow!! It is hands down my absolute favorite color of the season. I’d been looking for this shade for AGES from any reasonably-priced brand that made it and every time it was sold out! When I saw that Catrice聽 was going to do it too I was cheering like a madwoman–my neighbors must have thought I was mad, haha!

It’s called 340 Run Forest Run! and is an 100% shimmer-free gorgeous deep forest green color. I absolutely love it!

Both polishes are very opaque–just one coat is enough for full coverage, the brush is wide, making the application easy and smooth. Drying time is standard, and it stays on for ages and doesn’t chip. Love it!

I didn’t get the third new color from the collection, a greyish-taupe called Absolutely Chinchilly, because I own a similar color already.

Price? They’re about 2-3 Euros each.

MOVING ON!

Next up are the H&M nailpolishes.

H&M have recently re-vamped their nailpolish collection as well. Their formulation has changed and so has their color selection and appearance. First, I picked up the three green shades (you can tell how much I love my greens, no?): a dark shimmer-free aqua-teal called Moody Model, a gorgeous glittery dark green called Envy Me, and a bluish grass-green shimmery color called No Mambo Jambo.

A few weeks later I was shopping for some accessories for my upcomig Christmas gala evening (the dress is a satin chocolate-brown with a golden blazer) and saw the perfect nail varnish for it: Gold by H&M:

I haven’t tried any of the new shades but I do have a few other colors from the same line and I’m quite happy with them.

Next are the W.I.C. by Her么me nailpolishes.

I’ve been wanting to try out this brand for a while–they’re supposed to be top end in quality and midrange in price, and they’ve got a fantastic color selection. I picked up two colors. They both came in these very cute shiny bags (oooooooh shiny!)

The colors were: a holographic taupe (!!!) called Kingston 73 and a glittery pearly light green called Mykonos 114.

I’ve tried them both. They have a gorgeous consistensy and apply smoothly and evenly, the drying is average, though the polish itself remains quite soft for hours after it is applied–the only major downside. Though once the polish is dry, it will literally stay on for a week without bulging. The hollographic taupe is quite flashy–i got lots of compliments on it 馃檪 The light green is quite sheer–two coats didn’t give an opaque finish. Overall, I’m quite pleased with this product.

Last but not least, a free-bee!! I was at the Millionair fair this weekend (for work-related purposes, I’m a student, not a millionare ;p) and I had my nails painted and got a free nailpolish!! It was by KOH–a sister-company of Her么me and also a brand I’d been drooling over for AGES, but it’s way too expensive (15 euros per bottle) so it’s on my “someday” list 馃檪

It’s in the color Royal Purple 118, and it came in this lovely lipstick-case:

I really wanted to like this brand, but so far it’s chipped and dented on me a bit. Still, I’m hoping that it’s due to the way the makeup lady applied the base-coat (she was nice but a little crazy) so I’ll try it out again in the future.

That’s it! Let me know if you’d like to see any designs/reviews with any of the products mentioned in this haul 馃槈 XOXO
